Cubs Awards
The Chicago Urban Bicycling Society's trip across Iowa will probably bring you more laughter and good times than you've ever had while being challenged physically. Each year we present all riders with a customized award based on their behavior, prowess, or personality during the week in Iowa. On the bus ride home riders are embarrassed, humiliated, and tormented with the reading of each award and the presentation of a certificate suitable for framing.
We do present some serious awards which include: Most Valuable Rider Male & Female, Best Rookie (1st year with CUBS) Male & Female, Top Male Rider Male & Female, Most Improved Rider, True Grit Award, Genius Award, Good Humor Award, among others. Here are some of the not so serious awards you might earn: Big Thurnder (flatulence, usually overheard from your tent), Iowa Girl, MVP Attorney's Division, Oscar Meyer, Golden Shower, Get Off My Wheel, Mustang Madness, Dale Earnhart, and many many more. Mike Conklin, a retired Chicago Tribune editor and news writing professor, is our awards chairman. You'll want to remain guarded when you're around Mike.
